The Opportunity

Are you an ambitious individual looking for real responsibility from day one? Do you want to support some of the most exciting renewable energy projects and across the UK?

Know that what you do matters. Counter Context exists in the place where politics meets real life. The clients and projects we support help to build a better tomorrow.

We are looking for an entry-level Account Executive to join our supportive and tight-knit team of communications professionals.

Shape your career at Counter Context

Every day is different at Counter Context. As an Account Executive, you could be undertaking political research to inform a communications strategy, writing content for a consultation website, or helping to plan a community event to gather feedback about a proposal.

You will be working with clients and their partners from day one. You will be front and centre, in the limelight and taking the credit for your insights, advice and expertise.

We particularly encourage applicants with an academic background in politics, communications science, environmental science, planning, sustainability or a humanities-based subject with strong project management and research element. Prior agency experience would be well regarded but is not essential, and a full clean UK driving licence is preferred.

We are looking for positive, hardworking, and enthusiastic people who want to make a difference. At Counter Context you can shape your own path. We have a strong track record of nurturing development within our team: several of our senior consultants joined us as Account Executives and have grown their careers with us.

The Role

You will be an Account Executive. This means you will play a role in delivering communication activities to support some of the UK’s, largest regeneration and renewable energy projects.

Your role will involve:

Research and insight gathering – undertaking research to help the formulation of communications strategies, including political research, local community mapping and research into industry trends.

Copywriting – producing content for communications materials such as community newsletters, briefing documents, websites and social media, PowerPoint presentations and letters

Event planning and support – supporting our Account Managers with planning stakeholder events, public exhibitions and webinars. This may involve organising venues, catering, logistics, producing risk assessments etc., as well as providing support at the events.

Stakeholder database management – keeping databases of political, business and community stakeholders accurate and up-to-date.

Community relations and stakeholder liaison - Managing project email accounts and telephone information lines, and replying to community and stakeholder enquiries. Handling project information lines and updating information line call logs.

Reporting – using both qualitative and quantitative methods to analyse consultation feedback and reporting the results back to clients, informing the future of their projects.

Media and social media monitoring – getting to know the local community and their issues, using software to monitor media coverage and producing weekly reports of the main issues.

The Offer

We hire talented people who want to be rewarded well.

Salary: Up to £22,575 depending on experience. London weighting is also applicable.

Annual Leave: Taking time away from working life is important to us, so we offer 28 days annual leave each year and the option to top up with our holiday purchase scheme.

We go above and beyond, to give you the complete package. You will enjoy family-friendly working, enhanced employer pension contributions and a complete health and wellbeing package.

Our team operates out of our offices in Sheffield and London. The pandemic has shown we can work from anywhere, but it’s also taught us that spending time together is really important. We have a flexible hybrid model of home and office working, so we are seeking applications from candidates who can easily access one of our offices.

Most importantly, we offer you a place in our growing agency and within a close-knit team who work hard, care for each other and want to make a difference. We have been trading successfully for 26 years. The last three years have been our most successful ever. We’re looking to hear from people with a passion to be part of this and to grow with us.
